My Secret Ingredient for Outstanding Apple Recipes

There is a special magic about food made from scratch. You take a recipe, tinker with it and make it your own. You put in the effort and time, then add a touch of love in your work to produce the best apple dish that you can. Don't you want it to be the best apple dish ever?

Of course, you do! Here is a secret that will take any apple dish to a new level of taste and nutrition:   Use Organic Apples.

Organic apples are apples that are certified to be grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. They are grown in soil that is more fertile and bio-active. They taste better and have greater nutritional content. And you do not have to worry about the toxins that come with non-organically grown apples.

Do you remember the first apple you bit into when you were a child? That sweet tangy burst of flavor in your mouth? Does it seem to you that the apples you buy at the grocery store have no taste? Did you think that it was you, getting older? Not so, most apples that you buy today actually have less flavor than they did 10, 20 and 50 years ago.

Why is this? Large scale commercial orcharding has depleted the soil in many areas. Apple trees, deprived of certain nutrients, do not create the subtle biological substances needed to enhance the flavor of their fruit. They also do not produce as nutritious an apple. To get the same nutrition from an apple grown 50 years ago, you may actually have to eat up to 10 of today's non-organic apples! Here is something else scary. Some apple producers have begun to actually inject their tasteless fruit with artificial apple flavoring to make their products palatable. Ugh!

Where can you buy organic apples? Most of the today's major supermarket chains have begun to cater to consumers who demand organic produce and poducts. There is a good chance your local grocery store has begun to offer organic apples. If they don't, ask for them, and in the meantime. check out your local health food or whole food market. Farmer's markets often have organic produce as well. The nice thing about buying organic produce, is it is usually grown closer to where you live. Buying organic tends to help the local economy!

Sometimes apples and other organic fruit will show minor blemishes on the skin. That's okay. This just means that your apple was NOT sprayed 10 or more times during the growing season with toxic chemical pesticides and fertilizers. You are seeing fruit as nature makes it, not as man has distorted it.

When you cook with organic ingredients, you are cooking the way our ancestors did. You are using foods that are filled with nutrients and life. So start making your apple dishes with organic apples. Your taste buds will be amazed and your body will appreciate it. PS... Use organic raw cane sugar and whole wheat flour as well!
